Application: Audia for macOS
Developer / Data Controller: BizTech Solutions LLC (9730 Water Oak Drive, Fairfax, VA 22031, USA)
Overview
Audia is a native macOS audio control center and per-app mixing utility developed and operated by BizTech Solutions LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), a Virginia limited liability company located at 9730 Water Oak Drive, Fairfax, Virginia 22031.
We designed Audia with an uncompromising privacy-by-design, local-first architecture: your audio, recordings, microphone streams, and listening habits never leave your device.
This Privacy Policy explains what limited data is processed to validate your software license, how local macOS system permissions are utilized, and what rights you have.
If you have questions or wish to exercise any privacy rights, contact us at: privacy@audiamac.app
1. Information We Collect & Process
1.1 Anonymous Install ID (Device Identifier)
When you first launch Audia, the App generates a random, anonymous Install ID (UUID format, e.g., C3F5E7B1-4A8E-4C23-9D11-00B2A34F5567).
- Nature: It is mathematically random, pseudonymized, and contains zero personal information, hardware serial numbers, MAC addresses, or Apple IDs.
- Storage: Stored locally in your macOS Keychain under service identifier
com.audia.license. - Purpose: Used strictly to verify whether your installation has an active subscription entitlement and to prevent license activation abuse.
- Transmission: Sent securely over HTTPS to our Cloudflare-hosted licensing server during periodic entitlement checks and license activation/deactivation.
1.2 License Key (Activation & Restore)
When you purchase a subscription or restore access on a new or formatted Mac:
- You enter your License Key (issued to you upon purchase by Lemon Squeezy).
- The App securely sends the License Key and your Install ID to our licensing backend.
- Our backend validates the key against Lemon Squeezy's licensing API to authorize your installation.
- Note on Email Addresses: The Audia macOS desktop application never collects, prompts for, stores, or transmits your email address. Your email address is provided exclusively to our Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy Inc., during web checkout to deliver your purchase receipt and license key (see Section 5).
1.3 Entitlement Status & Local Cache
Audia periodically queries our licensing backend to confirm your active subscription tier (Basic, Pro, or Studio). The server response (status, tier, and expiration date) is cached locally in your encrypted macOS Keychain so Audia operates seamlessly offline for up to 72 hours.
1.4 What We DO NOT Collect
Audia does not collect, inspect, transmit, or monetize any of the following:
| Category | Transmitted to Company Servers? |
|---|---|
| Audio Streams & Recordings | ❌ Never (processed strictly in memory and saved to your local drive) |
| Microphone or Audio Input Content | ❌ Never |
| App Usage & Browsing History | ❌ Never (which apps you run or tabs you open) |
| Equalizer, Volume, or Profile Presets | ❌ Never (stored solely in local app container) |
| Hardware Serial Numbers or MAC Addresses | ❌ Never |
| Personal Identifiable Information (Name, Phone, Address) | ❌ Never |
| Third-Party Telemetry / Ad Tracking / Behavioral Analytics | ❌ Never |
2. macOS System Permissions & Local Processing
To perform system-level audio mixing, Audia requests specific macOS permissions. All processing associated with these permissions takes place locally on your Mac:
2.1 Audio Capture & Recording (NSAudioCaptureUsageDescription)
- Purpose: Declared to access macOS CoreAudio taps (
ProcessTap) to capture per-application audio buffers for volume mixing, real-time 10-band equalization, and user-initiated recording. - Local Isolation: All audio processing occurs in real-time in memory. When you record an application, the resulting
.wavor.m4afile is written directly to the local folder of your choice on your Mac. Neither BizTech Solutions LLC nor Audia has backend servers that ingest audio, and no audio buffers are ever transmitted across the network.
2.2 Apple Events & Automation (NSAppleEventsUsageDescription)
- Purpose: Audia communicates locally via Apple Events (inter-process communication) with supported media players (Spotify, Apple Music) and web browsers (Google Chrome, Brave, Safari, Arc, Edge, Opera).
- Scope: Used solely to read playback metadata (current track title and artist for Now Playing display) and to detect which browser tabs are actively outputting audio for individual volume control.
- Privacy: Audia does not read your browser history, bookmarks, web page content, or credentials.
2.3 Bluetooth Access (NSBluetoothAlwaysUsageDescription)
- Purpose: Audia accesses CoreBluetooth locally to identify connected audio peripherals and their specific hardware models (such as AirPods Max, AirPods Pro, or Beats headphones).
- Scope: Used solely to render the correct device icon and battery/output state in the Audia volume HUD and menu bar.
- Privacy: No Bluetooth device identifiers, MAC addresses, connection logs, or location beacons are stored, logged, or transmitted off your Mac.
3. Network Activity & External Communications
Audia initiates external network requests only for the following distinct operational functions:
- Licensing & Entitlement Validation:
- Frequency: At app launch and approximately every 6 hours.
- Data Sent: Install ID (and License Key during activation).
- Destination: Our Cloudflare Worker licensing API (
audia-api.audiamac-04c.workers.dev) over HTTPS.
- Device Deactivation:
- Trigger: When you choose "Deactivate License" in Audia Settings.
- Data Sent: Install ID.
- Destination: Our licensing API over HTTPS to unbind the device from Lemon Squeezy.
- Software Updates via Sparkle Framework:
- Trigger: Automatic periodic checks or when you click "Check for Updates" in Settings.
- Data Sent: Standard HTTP request headers (including macOS version and app version User-Agent).
- Destination: Our GitHub distribution repository hosting the update feed (
appcast.xml). - Control: You may disable automatic update checks at any time in Settings > Updates.
- Now Playing Album Artwork Fallback:
- Trigger: When playing music via Spotify or Apple Music and local artwork is unavailable.
- Data Sent: Standard public query with track title and artist name sent to Apple's public iTunes Search API (
https://itunes.apple.com/search). - Destination: Apple Inc. and CDN image servers to retrieve public album cover art.
- External Hyperlinks:
- The App provides outbound links to our website (
audiamac.app), purchase checkout, and Lemon Squeezy customer management portal (app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders). These open in your default system web browser.
- The App provides outbound links to our website (
4. Local Data Storage
All user configurations, custom EQ curves, and audio files are stored exclusively on your local device:
| Data Type | Storage Location on macOS |
|---|---|
| Install ID & License Entitlement | Encrypted macOS Keychain (com.audia.license) |
| App Preferences & Volumes | macOS UserDefaults / ~/Library/Application Support/com.audia.app/ |
| Mixer Profiles & EQ Presets | Local application container (~/Library/Application Support/) |
| User Audio Recordings | Folder chosen by you in Finder (e.g., ~/Music/Audia Recordings/) |
Uninstalling Audia removes your local application container files.

7. Data Retention & Deletion
- Install ID & Keychain Cache: Retained on your device until you delete Audia and remove its Keychain entries.
- Licensing Server Records: We retain your License Key, Install ID linkage, and subscription status for as long as your license is active and up to 12 months following expiration to allow reactivation and dispute resolution.
- Infrastructure Logs: Ephemeral Cloudflare edge logs are automatically purged in accordance with standard operational cycles (typically within 30 to 90 days).
